There isn’t a better way of starting off the week with a good cup of coffee. The Palm Coffee Bar, located on Magnolia Blvd., serves great coffee and caffeinated drinks such as the lucky charm matcha, which is a blueberry matcha with lucky charms marshmallows. And because I don’t stray far from the traditional drinks, I can say that their lattes and espresso based drinks are very good.
The Palm Coffee Bar opened its doors two years ago and is owned by Joanna Heart who is now a Burbank local. Joanna was inspired by her Cuban heritage, designing her shop to remind her and the customers of a tropical vacation. Her passion is to provide a luxury and quality experience for our community where every one is welcomed. Growing up in a small town outside of Philadelphia, Joanna moved to Burbank and loved the small town feel. Wanting to cultivate relationships to promote the community feel through her products. In discussing what some of her favorite things about the coffee bar, Joanna recalled a time when there was a line outside of her shop and a few strangers got to talking. They ended up playing guitar and singing with on another outside on the bench, and Joanna explained how that scenario was what she wanted from her shop, people being able to meet and make connections. That “community and connection is what [coffee] is all about.”
Through this pandemic Joanna and her staff have had constantly adapt to keep their business going, say that this past year has been nothing but nonstop problem-solving. And its been especially challenging because they have only been open for two years. They were not able to grow their business like they had planned on, but instead are fighting to stay open like a lot of small businesses around Burbank.
